I don’t know what it has done to my body (I didn’t have blood tests done prior to starting) but I felt a little better while on HL. Starved, yep, but better. Unfortunately, I need to eat and with HL you are only “allowed” to eat once per day. I tried very very hard to stick to it, but it’s a no go. Even when I was doing the diet very strictly, I was gaining weight. I’m up 5 pounds now from my start point.
I know there are posts/blogs, etc out there that deal with what HL does to your body (hence my opening statement). I’m not involved with that and I don’t feel any change other than I felt a bit better. HL did NOT give me enough staying power to continue with my nursing clinicals, though, and I found I had to supplement my supplement with real food or I was dead on my feet by 2 p.m.
As such, HL is being kicked out. I’m checking on South Beach Diet and SmartDiet.com. I’ll start a new blog with updated stats, etc. when I figure out what I’m going to do!
Grrrrrr. I am soo frustrated! I have been religious about HL, having 2 shakes a day, writing everything I eat down (and with the exeption of the weekend, I have been doing very well), exercising, etc. and I’m back up to 255.4! WTF? Granted, I am having an easier time exercising. I made it through half of SI6 before needing a break (for my arms, wich is a huge big deal!)! But adding weight? WTF? I haven’t increased my sodium intake, if anything I’ve cut it. I’m not sure what is going on. I feel like my upper belly is getting smaller, but when I measured it, it measured the exact same. Any ideas???
I’m thinking about ditching HL and starting my own program. I like South Beach, but some of their recipes are icky or take farrrrrr too long to prepare. Who has time to poach eggs (or would want to) in the morning? I’m lucky to get out of the door on time!
I forget what I had to eat on 08/22 (Friday) but here is a guess: 2 HL shakes, cream of chicken sandwich on 12 grain bread (I made it from 1 can of cream of chicken soup and 2 small cans of chicken) and potatoes, green beans and vegetable medley all mixed together. I had about 2 cups of the veggie mix.
08/23/2008 2 HL shakes, 10oz prime rib, sweet potatoe, salad with some ranch dressing and cheese and 1 scoop of vanilla ice cream
08/24/2008 1 HL shake, I split Tour of Italy at Olive Garden with K, salad and a peach-raspberry iced tea (it was sweet), 1 nachos supreme and cheesey gordita crunch from Taco Bell. I had OG at 12 and TB at 7:30p, so I didn’t sit down and pig out on all of that food. This was our shopping day, too. We were shopping from 9:30 in the morning until 7:30 that evening! WOW!
08/25/2008 2 HL shakes (and I’m hungry – probably from eating all that food yesterday) so far. I haven’t had any water, either, but I’ll catch that up tonight.
Are welcome so long as they are PRODUCTIVE and not spammy. Someone sent a comment yesterday that may have been (by intention) funny, though I found it quite humorless and a bit offensive. I felt like they were slamming my life. No judgments here, please. If you aren’t interested in a fat person’s struggle with weight loss, get lost!
That being said, construtive criticism about my exercise, food diary, moods, etc. are welcome.
In an attempt to be proactive, I took a Snack Defense tablet this morning and I have been nothing BUT hungry since then! Do you think it is in my head, or do you think they make you hungry to entice you to eat more of their bars?
So far today (which I will put in my food diary blog), I have had 2 HL shakes, a toddler bite of S (my 3-year-old son)’s McD sausage and pancacke and 3 baked lays chips.
K will be gone this evening, so I wonder what DH and S will want for dinner. My buns hurt from Slim in 6 last night, but I’m going to work through the pain and do it again tonight. I love the flexion series!

08/22/2008 UPDATE: I did Slim in 6 last night! K (my 14-year-old daughter) exercised with me, which was great. I am sore today – a lovely feeling!
08/25/2008 UPDATE: I did Slimin 6 on the 23rd. I didn’t work out yesterday because we were shopping and walking allll day and because I am very sore from SI6. I’ll exercise tonight. I’m starting to notice a change in my upper belly area. It’s getting smaller. I don’t know if the change is visible, per se, but I can feel the difference.

Here’s what I’ve been eating, though:
Monday, 8-18: 1 HL shake in the morning 1 for lunch, 96 oz of water before 4 p.m. For dinner I had 2 cups of Johnny Marzetti and a big heap of salad from a bag with some Country French dressing. Not sure how many cals are in the dressing, but I didn’t use much.
Tuesday, 8-19: 1 HL shake in the morning, 1 for lunch, 96 oz of water before 4 p.m. For dinner: left over Marzetti, about 1.5 cups. I got hungry later that night, so I just went to bed.
Wednesday, 8-20: 1 HL shake in the morning. For lunch I had turkey breast on fecaccio bread (or however it’s spelled) with a squirt of Mayo and mustard, about 6 baked lay (insert trademark symbol here) chips and about 6 red grapes. I’ll have a HL shake for dinner. 96 oz of water before 4, too. It’s actually 2:53 and I have it done. I’m kinda hungry today, so I took a HL Snack Defense vitamin.
I drank another 32oz of water last night. I was hungry, so I skipped the HL shake and had a taco-like salad. I had lots of lettuce and salsa, a dab of sour cream, and about 2oz of taco meat. I had a PB&J sandwich, using 12 grain bread prior to exercising (all the weight loss stuff says you should have protein and complex carbs before you exercise). I felt really good. I slept super good last night, too
Remember, I’m a HL distributor, so if you want some product, resond to my blogs and I’ll get back to you. However, I did not start this blog to lose weight. I actually saw a lady in a People magazine at the beginning of this year that blogged her weight loss. I think that’s a fab idea, so I’m trying. I also can’t fit into my “whites.” My “whites” are the white uniform I am require to wear during my clinical rotations for nursing school. I can fit into the pants, but the shirt is a bit too tight and the one button is begging to pop. I have to lose enough weight – at least 10 pounds – to be able to fit in that damn shirt by Sept. 3!

So, there you have it. I did all measurements myself and on my left side (my non-dominant side). I will update you every week, at least, on weight and measurements.
